De
Vere Brabazon Course
The Brabazon Course at the Belfry Hotel, three-time venue of the Ryder
Cup Matches, affords a certain privilege for golfers playing this historic
course. Most recently, the hotel hosted the Ryder Cup in 1993 and a fourth
return of the international event is scheduled in 2001.
Suggested accommodations while visiting De Vere
Brabazon Course: De Vere Belfry.
Formby
Opened in 1884, the course remained unchanged until 1978. At that time
the 8th, 9th, and 10th holes had to be rebuilt due to erosion. Mother
Nature has taken this land and has easily fashioned it into one of the
best golf courses in Northwest England. The Formby has hosted the British
Amateur Championship three times.
Suggested accommodations while visiting Formby:
Clifton Arms, Crabwall Manor.

Hillside
Many great championships have been played at Hillside. Adjacent to Royal
Birkdale, locals deem this course one of the greatest courses in the area.
With a few holes snaking along the coast, Hillside is sure to test the
best golfing skills.
Suggested accommodations while visiting Hillside:
Clifton Arms, Crabwall Manor.

Royal Birkdale
The scene of both Ryder Cup Matches and British Open competitions, Birkdale
is one of the world's foremost seaside links courses. Hidden among the
dunes along the Irish Sea, the unpredictable winds pose a fickle but intriguing
challenge.
Suggested accommodations while visiting Royal
Birkdale: Clifton Arms, Crabwall Manor.

Royal
Liverpool
The site of more British Open Championships than any other course in
England, Royal Liverpool demands as much skill and courage as some of
the world's greatest courses. Founded in 1864, it is considered one of
the premier links courses in England.
Suggested accommodations while visiting Royal
Liverpool: Clifton Arms, Crabwall Manor.

Royal Lytham and St. Annes
One of the oldest courses in the world, Royal Lytham and St. Annes most
recently hosted the 2001 British Open. A strong, predominantly westerly
wind demands a straight shot and precise putting.
Suggested accommodations while visiting Royal
Lytham and St. Annes: Clifton Arms, Crabwall Manor.

Royal
St. Georges
The course was founded in 1887 by two Scottish gentlemen, Dr. Laidlaw
Purves and Henry Lamb, after what can only be described as a rather eccentric
venture. Within seven short years the Open Championship had 'come south'
and St. Georges was the first English venue.
Suggested accommodations while visiting Royal
St. Georges: Washington Mayfair, Stoke Park.

Stoke Poges
It has been recognized as a must play while you are in London. A testing
course designed by Harry Colt, which has a rich history and located in
the beautiful Stoke Park Club estate.
Suggested accommodations while visiting Stoke
Poges: Washington Mayfair, Stoke Park.
Walton Heath Golf Club
The course was designed in 1903 by Herbert Fowler who used natural hollows
and channels for drainage, so the fairways equal the best on any seaside
links, and quickly dry out even after a severe storm. Erratic shots, wide
of the prepared surface are wickedly punished and weekend players are
tormented in awful fashion.
Suggested accommodations while visiting Walton
Heath Golf Club: Washington Mayfair,
Stoke Park.

Wentworth
(West) Course
The West Course is one of England's most storied inland courses, having
been the site of many classic matches and host to the 1953 Ryder Cup.
It was also here that young Seve Ballesteros after eagling the 18th hole
took the World Match Play Championship into extra holes, finally beating
Arnold Palmer.
Suggested accommodations while visiting Wentworth
(West) Course: Washington Mayfair, Stoke Park.
