Pinehurst Golf Courses

Number 1

Designed by Dr. Leroy Culver in 1898, who built the first nine holes and John Dunn Tucker added the second nine. Of course Donald Ross' touch can be seen throughout this beautiful course which will provide a challenge to your game on each hole.

Number 2

Designed by Donald Ross in 1907, this course is a true test for any golfer as undulating greens and carefully placed bunkers will bring the best out of your long and short game. It is golf the way it was meant to be played, "the fairest test of championship golf" ever designed by Ross, in his own words. It is also top 10 in the country, and site of more championships than any other course in the country, including the 1999 and 2005 U.S. Open Championships.

Number 3

This course may measure less than 5,700 yards but don't let the length deceive you. It will challenge your short game to its fullest as it still carries typical Ross characteristics, such as tricky greens and straightforward layout.

Number 4

Tom Fazio revamped this course in 2000 but keeps majority of Ross' original routing. Additional new layouts, new pot bunkers totaling over 140 in number, and an incredible new lake makes this course a must play.

Number 5

Opened in 1961 by Ellis Maples whose father was Donald Ross' right hand for over 40 years. The course has more water hazards to negotiate than any other course at Pinehurst but still remains very playable and one you will enjoy.

Number 6

George Fazio and nephew Tom Fazio designed this course in 1979 and constant elevation changes, water and thick rough in spots will challenge you on every hole. Always a favorite with guests and members so pencil this beauty in for your visit to Pinehurst.

Number 7

Opened in 1986 by Rees Jones this layout has a mountainous feel about it, which will require power and pinpoint accuracy. Vast bunkers and wetlands await a wary shot and you will be kept on your toes until you walk off the 18th green.

Number 8 The Centennial

To celebrate a hundred years of Pinehurst history Tom Fazio opened this course in 1996 and he incorporated many of Donald Ross's features that are present throughout Pinehurst including dips and swales around the greens, sloping greens and false fronts. As the site of the Club Pro Championship in 1997 and 1998, it is a proven championship course that daunts and delights all who play it.
